ABOUT WESTLAKE, TEXAS
The Town of Westlake, known as the place where the cross timbers met the prairie, holds tales of settlers from the Peters Colony, Indian treaties signed by Sam Houston, tremendous archaeological treasures, and some of the oldest settlements in North Texas. The region has always been known for its natural bounty, its trade value, and its wonderful people.
The Town of Westlake and Northeast Tarrant County have maintained these distinctions over the years, becoming one of the most desirable and sought after places to live in America.
Nestled in the DFW Metroplex, Westlake is a Gold Level Scenic City and home to several corporate campuses as well as many small independent businesses including the Deloitte University campus, a 750,000 square-foot learning and leadership development center. Other developments in Westlake include Solana, a high profile corporate campus which includes CoreLogic (formerly First American Real Estate Information Services Inc.), Fidelity Investments North Texas Campus, and TD Auto Finance (formerly Chrysler Financial Services) Westlake Campus.
A Changing Town
The Town of Westlake has changed much since its original incorporation in 1956. During the early years, our mayor and board members met to discuss town business in the comfort of each other’s living rooms - an interesting contrast to how our town operates today.
In 2006, the town reached a major milestone in its history by celebrating its 50th anniversary. During its short history, Westlake has become known for its world-class commercial developments, master-planned residential neighborhoods, and the exemplary-rated Westlake Academy.

Westlake Academy
In 2003, the town raised bond funds to build the Westlake Academy, an open-enrollment charter school owned and operated by the town. All residents are eligible to enroll in the rigorous International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum. Not only does Westlake own its public charter school, but it has built Westlake Academy on the cornerstone of the International Baccalaureate curriculum which stresses inductive learning by encouraging our students to learn by asking “who, what, why, where, and how”. For the 670 kids enrolled in Westlake Academy’s K-12 program, any day can include a world-view discussion about conflicts in the Middle East, a trip to NASA or an art project based on Mesopotamian discoveries. Completely surrounded by the rolling hills of Circle T Ranch and wholly owned and operated by the town of Westlake, this International Baccalaureate (IB) charter school recently was named #37 in the nation by U.S. News & World Reports. http://www.westlakeacademy.org
